GLA:D
What Is GLA:D?
With its origins in Denmark, Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark – shortened to GLA:D Australia – is an Australian physiotherapy program designed to help treat people with hip/knee osteoarthritis.
GLA:D focuses on quality, neuromuscular, movement-based, and non-invasive exercises to help people self-manage their osteoarthritis. The great thing is, it also helps people displaying mild to moderate symptoms to reduce their pain, and often divert them away from major surgeries such as joint replacement surgery.
Charu is an accredited GLA:D physiotherapist. We are part of a pilot study sponsored by HCF. All costs are paid in full by them for the GLA:D program. We offer both 1:1 and group sessions.
Around 2 million Australians suffer from osteoarthritis, and if you’re reading this, chances are, you are too. The GLA:D program is a structured program designed to monitor your progress over the typical duration of its rehabiliation:
- Initial Assessment: 2 short outcome measures are completed (30 sec chair stand test and 40m walk test)
- 2 x Group Education Sessions: ~60-90 mins duration, delivered preferably before participant starts
- 12 x Supervised Group Exercise Sessions: ~60 mins duration, delivered twice weekly
- Follow-Up Assessment: 3 months after the initial assessment, where the two outcome measures are measured again, and there is a review of goals and planning for next steps

Procure Physio is an accredited provider of the GLA:D program. We are here to support your journey to recovery for the long run!
